MINEX Wins the Hechos al Carb\u00f3n Award 2025<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

MINEX Business Group is proud to announce that it received three distinctions at the Hechos al Carb\u00f3n Award 2025, Colombia's most prestigious recognition in the coal mining sector, organized by Fenalcarb\u00f3n. The ceremony took place at the Colombian Coal Summit, held in October 2025 in Barranquilla, bringing together the industry's leading players to celebrate its most responsible and transformative practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awards reflect a sustained commitment to the territories where we operate: first place in Territorial Governance<\/strong> with the Conexi\u00f3n Ra\u00edz project, second place in Social Development<\/strong> with the MINEX EDUCA program, and second place in Environmental Management<\/strong> with the MINEX Nursery (Vivero MINEX). Three distinct initiatives, one shared conviction: mining can and must generate human and environmental well-being.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conexi\u00f3n Ra\u00edz is a partnership with CORPONOR that, through the BanCO2 Environmental Payments mechanism, has conserved 706 hectares of native forest in Norte de Santander, planted 450 endemic trees, and provided a fixed monthly income to 13 vulnerable farming families. MINEX EDUCA arrived at our mines in February 2025 with a proposal as simple as it is powerful: bringing the classroom directly to our workers. In partnership with Colegio COMFANORTE, 30 miner-students at the Lajas and Esmeralda mines began or resumed their academic education, achieving an 88% retention rate. Eight of them will graduate with their high school diploma in December 2025, becoming the program's first graduating class. Their families, homes, and communities have also been changed by this journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MINEX Nursery, in operation since 2022, has delivered more than 10,400 seedlings from 32 native species across nine municipalities in Norte de Santander, with an 85% survival rate. Beyond the numbers, the nursery is a living classroom: it has engaged 18 educational institutions, trained 35 teachers, and raised environmental awareness among 850 students. Where dry land once stood, ceibas, ca\u00f1aguates, and guayacanes now grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These recognitions deepen our commitment to the path we have set. Not as an obligation, but as a choice: building a model of mining that leaves territories more alive, communities stronger, and people with more opportunities than those we found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thank Fenalcarb\u00f3n for this distinction, CORPONOR and COMFANORTE for their trust and collaborative work, and especially the workers, families, and communities who make these projects possible. This recognition, above all, belongs to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
